Ana Ivanovic claimed the WTA Rogers Cup with a comprehensive 6-2 6-3 win over Martina Hingis in the rain-delayed final. The Serbian needed just 58 minutes to see off the challenge of the former world number one and claim the biggest win of her career so far.
The duo had been due to play the final on Sunday but heavy rain meant it had to be postponed for 24 hours.
"From the first game I let her know I was going to be aggressive," Ivanovic said.
"It was important to stay calm and just play some good tennis.
"I just want to try and keep the same level now and see how far I can go."
Ivanovic set the tone by breaking her opponent's serve in the opening game of the match and never looked back.
A further break in the fifth game gave her a comfortable cushion and she quickly closed out the first set to take a 1-0 lead.
The second set followed a similar pattern as Hingis, a winner in Toronto in 1999 and 2000, struggled to contain the 18-year-old.
She lost her serve in the fifth game and then again in the ninth to slip to defeat and lose her second final of the season.
