Wigan Warriors veteran Kris Radlinski has once again retired - just weeks after making his comeback.
Having originally quit the game in March because of a knee injury, the former Great Britain full-back reappeared in June as Wigan battled against relegation.
But, having since played for the Warriors free of charge, the deteriorating condition of the 30-year-old's knee has led him to call time on his career for good.
"It has been fantastic to play for my hometown club again but now it's time to call it a day once and for all and this time there will be no turning back," Radlinski said.
"The knee just won't stand up to the training and matches so I have decided to finish playing.
"I am glad to have played my part with the club winning some games. I have every confidence in the lads and the team spirit is magnificent.
"There is a strong belief in the club from top to bottom and I am proud to have been involved again," he added.
With the club at one stage six points adrift at the foot of the Super League table, Radlinski's return in June gave Wigan a much-needed lift.
But, although the Warriors' position is now somewhat less perilous, the comeback did not represent a success for the player himself.
Radlinski made just six appearances at centre, his fitness no longer sufficient to cope with the demands posed by the full-back position.
