Tottenham Hotspur have revived their interest in Lyon's teenage winger Hatem Ben Arfa.
The 19-year-old is highly rated by the French champions, but has been facing an uncertain future at Stade Gerland.
He asked to leave the club earlier in the summer after featuring only sporadically under Gerard Houllier last season.
Premiership club Spurs held an interest towards the end of the last campaign and now appear to have come back in for the wide man.
According to Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, Tottenham are making a concerted effort to sign Ben Arfa before the close of the transfer window.
"I saw the leaders of Tottenham are pressing hard to sign Hatem," Aulas told the club's official website.
"It is necessary that we discuss it."
Spurs appear to be in the market for a left winger, having also been strongly linked with Middlesbrough ace Stewart Downing.
The recent sale of Andy Reid, though not a regular, has left Martin Jol short of cover on the left flank and Ben Arfa could be an option for the club.
