Martin Jol has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Stewart Downing with a move to Tottenham.
Spurs lack options on the left wing and Middlesbrough flyer Downing has been tipped to move to White Hart Lane.
Jol admits that he is considering making a fresh offer for the England international, but dismissed claims that Tottenham desperately need to bring him in.
Jol believes that Teemu Tainio is doing a more than adequate job down the left flank, while he has also shown a readiness to unleash Aaron Lennon on that side as well as the right.
"Maybe yes, maybe no," Jol said when asked whether he would make a bid for Downing before the transfer window shut.
"There are a couple of days left and we will have to wait and see. I don't want to talk about others players.
"I felt Teemu came in (against Sheffield United) and gave us everything. They call him a `Tiger'.
"He's got a lot of determination. He can play on the left and on the right or in midfield. He wants to win.
"For the last game I was happy that Teemu was there. If Teemu is there, we always play well."
Meanwhile, Jol is sweating on the fitness of Jermaine Jenas and Dimitar Berbatov ahead of the weekend's clash against Everton.
Jenas has picked up a knock on his toe, while Berbatov is nursing an ankle injury.
"Berbatov got a knock on his ankle but hopefully he will be okay," said Jol.
"JJ did not train because he had a problem with his toe. We will have to wait and see but hopefully he will be available."
